    NIPUN Bharat (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It aims to ensure that every child in India achieves proficiency in reading, writing, and numeracy by the end of Grade 3.

    Key Objectives:

    Universal proficiency in reading, writing, and numeracy for all children by 2025.
    Reduce dropout rates and improve transition rates from primary to upper primary and secondary stages.
    Improve quality of education through activity-based learning and conducive learning environments.

    Salient Features:

    Focus on foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) for children aged 3-9 years.
    5-tier implementation mechanism: National, State, District, Block, and School levels.
    Teacher capacity building through training and mentoring.
    Development of pedagogically sound teaching-learning materials.
    Technology integration for enhanced learning outcomes.
    Regular assessments and monitoring.

    Expected Outcomes:

    Improved learning outcomes in reading, writing, and numeracy.
    Enhanced teacher capacity and pedagogical skills.

    Launched on July 5, 2021.
    Over 25 states/UTs have developed action plans.
    Training programs for teachers and officials.
    Development of teaching-learning materials.
